Rebel Girl: Valentine From Hell

Valentine From Hell is an alternative model and in-training makeup artist from Finland, Helsinki. She balances her deep love for the dark and twisted side of beauty with a sweet and bubbly personality! Get to know Valentine from Hell better below.

Photography by Mikko Niemi[/caption]Tell us about your career as model. How did you get started?I was 18. A photographer found me on the internet (creepy, I know!) and asked me to do some test shots. We did. He helped me to find some photographers/models communities online. And I've been discovered by other photographer, we did some TFP-shoots for about a year, then I found some Facebook groups and communities and started to do more of TFP- photo sessions :)Did you always want to be a model or did you have other career aspirations when you were growing up?I wanted to be a model, but it seemed so... unreal! You know, when people around you are saying, you need to be a doctor or something! But I never had a "dream- career" and I still don't. I just want to do something artistic and creative :)Do you love any one genre ofmodelling more than another?

Of course! Editorial! But I don't want to do only one kind of photos, because it will stop being so special. I always end up doing something dark and twisted. But it's not a genre, it's more of a style I guess :) (And I love guns!)What was your first shoot as a model like? Tell us a little about it!Actually, my first shoot was when I was 6! My mother had a friend, who was working in the local newspaper as a photographer, so he wanted me to be on the cover! We went into the park and I had this white dress and a huge bow in my hair and flowers in my hands. I just kept smiling like an idiot and he was taking photos!Here is that photo. It was taken in the summer of 1998.You’re well known as a fan of the horror modelling genre. What are some of your biggest influences?I've never thought that I am an horror model :o I think it's just me ending up doing dark and twisted photos. I don't have any particular "idols", I guess, I'm just choosing the dark side every time :DWhat’s your favorite horror film?I really like Silent Hill, first and second Resident Evil, Saw- movies and the old school vampire movies :)Do you have any big horror concepts you’d love to take on in the future? Or are you trying to move away from that genre?I've never done a real gore photo shoot, so I would like to try that out! Also I have some ideas for awesome concepts, but I will tell no more!What do you do when you aren't modelling?

I really love to draw and paint, but I'm not doing it so often due to lack of time :/What do you consider your biggest career highlights so far?I don't think I have a career yet, but I am really excited for being on the cover of Finland's biggest photography- related magazine, "Kamera- lehti"How much have you changed since you first started modelling?As a person, not a bit. But as a model: I now know what I want to do and don’t take anything that I'm not exited about :)Are you looking forward to anything in the future? (New shoots, events, etc)Yes.
