Double Standards In The Bedroom

Despite what the media would have you believe, sex is equally enjoyable for both genders.  Ladies and gents both have complex sex organs that make each and every single one of us (with exceptions, of course) want to bang.  Alone or with a partner, we’re  the damn thing.  So why in the year of our Lord 2016 do we still have double standards in the bedroom?  For the love of lube, we need to cut it out — and both sexes need to be held accountable.

“A man will not buy the cow if he can get the milk for free.” Yet, a man still craves a “lady in the streets and a freak in the sheets.” How will he get that "ideal woman" if he shames one side of her?

Women are expected to be on birth control. And if they aren’t, they're engaging in risky behavior. Both men and women feel this way too, unfortunately.

Men can only be straight or homosexual. We all know that sexuality exists on a spectrum. No one is entirely straight, but we as a society like to believe that men somehow are or aren’t.

However, women can be bi-sexual and heteroflexible. In fact, we encourage women to explore outside their gender. We want women to engage with other women. Men fantasize about it, actually.

Becoming pregnant before marriage is a sin. Men especially tend to avoid women who are mothers because they think their value as a partner has diminished, while women don't really mind dating fathers.

Men will lie, cheat, steal and beg to get into our pants. The reality of the situation is, a man doesn’t have to do any of those things to get into our pants. Guys know this. Girls know this. But, we still pretend like dudes are animals that will do anything (sans murder) to do us. What a pass that is, no?

There are only “good boys/girls" and "bad boys/girls.” What about... normal people? People in the middle? Didn't know we all had to be extremists.

Women are encouraged to swallow semen but girls get a lot of crap about how they taste/smell down there. And most of the time, men are musty. Where is the justice? We think all men should have to taste their "product" before ever giving women any grief over theirs.

Men are expected to have condoms on them at all times. There have been articles upon articles all over the web claiming that condoms are a thing that every guy should have in his wallet. But, female condoms do exist and they’re actually just as safe and comfortable as male condoms.

Girls can get things with the promise of sex, but men cannot. It rarely works for them. Women are these highly sexualized creatures and men are potatoes.

Threesomes: If it's another girl, it's cool. But if you want to bring a second guy into the mix, all hell breaks loose. Isn't everyone invited to the party?

Men don't want you going near their bottoms. But, your ass is fair play. Honestly speaking, we think all men who like to try a little butt play.

Guys are hesitant to go down on a girl, but men expect women to go down on them. Give and you shall receive, honey. What's good for the geese is good for the gander, and this goes double for oral.

Men with a lot of partners are studs, while women with a higher number of partners are deemed sluts. “Dude, you’re such a pimp for bagging those girls last weekend!” vs. “Girl, you went home with how many guys last week?” This is probably the biggest bedroom double standard we face today, as well as the hardest one to eliminate. Unfortunately, women’s internalized misogyny will keep this double standard around until we all realize what a sham it is.

Women should shave, but men can let their hairs run wild. Why is it that ladies need to be barren but the guys can look like sasquatches?
